Validating Mobile Numbers Expedites the Top-Up Process
ENCINO, Calif. (November 27, 2012) – ClearLine Mobile, a mobile marketing and loyalty technology company, announced the availability of Global Mobile Phone Number Validation service to help the prepaid market, such as POS providers and ISOs, increase efficiency and reduce the number of rejected top-ups.
The Global Mobile Phone Number Validation process lets customers know if a mobile number is alive, thereby eliminating time-wasters and typing errors by checking any mobile phone number in real time as it is entered. Some customers give invalid mobile telephone number details or simple make a mistake. The mobile number validation service can immediately identify errors and request the correct mobile number.
“Mobile phone number validation reduces the number of disappointed customers, refunded transactions, and customer service calls,” said Nate Moshkovich, vice president at ClearLine Mobile. “Basically, with this technology, instead of displaying 100 products, prepaid providers can ask for a phone number and our platform will identify the mobile carrier. By reducing the number of invalid transactions, prepaid providers will be able to improve revenue margin and expand service coverage with real time number validation.”
What is mobile number validation? The mobile network’s Home Location Register is the database of all mobile numbers registered on its GSM and CDMA networks. The database keeps a record of the subscriber’s SIM card identifier (IMSI) and mobile number (MSISDN). ClearLine Mobile’s lookup service connects with the relevant mobile numbers home network in real time to confirm and validate the provided mobile number.
“We have seen that by validating mobile numbers, the number of rejected top-ups is reduced, assisting retailers to sell International Airtime refills where the only information they need is the international phone number,” said Moshkovich. “Invalid numbers are often a problem during the international top-up process when customers give wrong numbers to avoid revealing their identity and or simply make a mistake. The phone number validation method solves the problem of wrong numbers by checking a mobile telephone number in real time as they are entered.”
Global Mobile Phone Number Validation connects with the relevant mobile numbers’ home network and can identify whether the subscriber’s handset is currently alive or has been disabled. The method can also identify the network and the country that the phone is registered to and even the country where the phone is located.
Additional uses for mobile validation are to revalidate and “clean-up” existing mobile databases that are kept by companies. Organizations can conduct more effective mobile marketing via SMS, minimize false online registrations of mobile numbers, use the valid mobile numbers to send SMS notifications, and improve customer service and brand perception by avoiding communication gaps.
Overall, ClearLine’s Mobile Telephone Number Validation service creates a better user experience. “With real time number validation, we can improve revenue margins and expand service coverage,” said Moshkovich.
